CHARLIE SHEEN CHECKS INTO REHAB... DEPENDING ON WHICH STORY YOU BELIEVE... HIS CHOICE, OR NOT

Charlie Sheen has checked himself into rehab.

A statement from his rep says:

"As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility. He will take some time off his series Two and a Half Men. He has asked that his privacy be honored. No further statements are planned."

The CBS sitcom has completed 18 of 23 planned episodes for this season and was due to film a 19th this week. The finished episodes will last until sometime in mid-April and the season finale has been scheduled for May 24.

Monday, Charlie's wife, Brooke Mueller, was moved from a Malibu rehab facility called The Canyon, after the staff leaked her medical information. She is in "ongoing treatment."

Charlie has a March 15 court date in Aspen, stemming from his Christmas Day arrest on domestic violence charges.

NOW: The GOSSIP:

TMZ reports Charlie Sheen voluntarily checked himself into rehab and there was "no one big thing that happened that made him go".

Charlie made the decision to go to rehab late yesterday morning. He will spend two weeks in rehab, and will get outpatient treatment once he checks out.

CBS and Warner Bros. just issued a joint statement, saying: "CBS, Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre support Charlie Sheen in his decision today to begin voluntary in-patient care at a treatment center."

Later, TMZ reported that Charlie Sheen arrived at a rehab facility in the L.A. County area at 8 PM PT Tuesday.

Sources say Charlie had been "slipping" and that's why he decided to go into rehab.

(Under the terms of bail, Charlie cannot take drugs or drink alcohol.)

BUT WAIT! Was Charlie Sheen Dragged Into Rehab???

RadarOnline reports that Charlie Sheen finally went into rehab nearly six hours after his representatives announced that he had checked in.

And the actor did not check in, and was dragging his feet.

The official statement said he was going in as a “preventative measure.” But Sheen resisted checking in, even after his reps told the world he was already in rehab. It was only after RadarOnline.com reported late Tuesday night that Sheen was AWOL from rehab that he finally packed up and headed into the facility.

A source says, “Charlie didn’t want to go."

Sheen hid out for nearly six hours after his reps announced he had entered rehab. And when RadarOnline.com uncovered he was still not in rehab, people close to him scrambled to get him to check in.

AS FOR THE KIDS: They will stay at the family house with the nannies and other staff. Charlie's mom will spend a good deal of time at the house, as will Brooke Mueller's mother.

The kids will visit Brooke in her rehab facility.

Chris Brown showed up to court in LA for a progress report and the judge gave him props and told him that he's doing really well in meeting his terms of probation.

So far, Chris has completed 17 out of 52 group sessions for domestic violence and hasn't missed one. He has also done 32 days of hard labor.

Chris was sentenced to six months of community labor for assaulting Rihanna. That's more than 1,400 total hours of washing cars, removing graffiti and cleaning and maintaining grounds in his home state of Virginia.

He was also sentenced to five years probation and ordered not to contact Rihanna for the next five years.

Chris' next hearing is May 11th.

John Mayer is getting killed over his remarks in a Playboy interview, but a charity organization has come to his defense.

The Isaac Foundation is an organization that raises support for children with a rare enzyme deficiency known as MPS VI. A spokesperson for the charity said that the John Mayer they've come to know over the years is a far cry from his public image.

A message on the organization's website said: "We thought we would take to our blog to write a quick defense of John Mayer, someone that we have grown to respect for the kind, caring, and compassionate person that he truly is. We don't care what Playboy Magazine writes about the man, and we don't care what John says to the journalists that write what they do about him. In America, it's all part of the game to light up the blogosphere, stay relevant, end of story."

The message also said that John has donated his time and efforts to the organization, and even had the founding family and their son Isaac backstage as his concert.

Dr. Conrad Murray was not charged Wednesday in the death of Michael Jackson.

Dr. Murray’s lawyers were prepared to surrender him but the District Attorney will not charge him with involuntary manslaughter until tomorrow (FRIDAY).

And, sources say when Dr. Murray appears in court for the first time, the D.A. will recommend that bail be set at $25,000 which is standard for involuntary manslaughter in Los Angeles County.

Dr. Murray will turn himself in to the LAPD Friday morning. He will be booked and then taken to face a judge at 1:30 PM.

Frances Reid, who has played Alice Horton since the very first episode of Days of our Lives, has died. The actress passed away yesterday, at the age of 95.

Reid's first soap role came in 1954 on the 15-minute Portia Faces. She quit after six months, saying that the workload was "exhausting."

In 1959, Reid took another shot at daytime serials, joining As the World Turns. For the next three years, she'd appear as Grace Baker. A few years later, she appeared on The Edge of Night. Then, it was back to primetime, including a numerous appearances on Wagon Train.

She was offered the role of "Alice" on a new soap opera called Days of our Lives. Reid accepted the role because she enjoyed working and realized that roles for women over 40 were not plentiful. In November 2009, Reid marked her 44th year on Days of our Lives.

She was married to the late actor Philip Bourneuf for 43 years.

In recent years, Reid eased into retirement. She made her final appearance on Days of our Lives on December 26, 2007.
