JESSICA SIMPSON DEFENDS HER NO MAKEUP MARIE CLAIRE COVER

Last week, Jessica Simpson posed for the cover of the May issue of Marie Claire with no makeup. The picture wasn't even retouched.

Jessica defended her decision, saying: "I absolutely was not wearing makeup celebration. If you look at the cover, you can tell my nose has been broken a couple times. It's a little off."

"If you look at a retouched cover of me and if you look at the Marie Claire cover, you can see that there's a big difference. And I really wanted to show women that I'm just a normal person. Normally when I take the pictures, I don't know what the magazine's going to do with it after that. I don't know what the photographer's gonna do with it after that. It was important for me to make sure that they did not retouch and I was not wearing makeup."

Big Apple sources say Alex Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz have been on secret dates, since the Creative Artists Agency Super Bowl party in February.

They secretly saw each other in Florida while A-Rod was at spring training. A source tells Life & Style, "A-Rod's with Cameron. They've been keeping it quiet, but they're totally together."

A source said their relationship is casual, with neither pushing for commitment.

In an interview for Playboy's May issue, he says: "The story is not true, and I'm not going to comment [further] on it. Margherita and I have been best friends and best lovers. She's the love of my life."

"We have managed to both be intensely independent and maintain that strength in our relationship," he says. "I am a man, and I am an appreciator of women. At the same time, Margherita is the s---. I can honestly say we're good together."

Jake Gyllenhaal is interviewed for GQ, and for the first time, talks about his "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Heath Ledger.

Jake says, “I don’t really like talking about it. That period of time was… it was difficult. He was very sensitive. He didn’t always have a sense of performance in his everyday life. He knew who he was.

"I think actors very often, they know how to present something, and that’s part of their job. I think he was just really sensitive.

"We often used to do a lot of things together, because people were very interested in him and I think we felt safe together. Even when we did Brokeback and stuff, it was like my work was the only thing that mattered to me. It was like I could only understand or define myself through doing that.

"Life, I didn’t totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life. And I had success in my work, enough success that you could keep going back there. But after that happened…I think I recognized that it was work. And I recognized that this is for real.”
